zener diode

A diode that operates like a normal diode when it blocks current up to a specified voltage but that will conduct current when the voltage exceeds that.

zerk

A grease fitting threaded into a movable joint and made for attachment of a grease gun. More commonly called a grease nipple.

zero offset

A condition in which the plane of the hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.

zyglo®

A crack detection method used on engine blocks and cylinder heads that uses a liquid fluorescent penetrant and a fluorescent light to find cracks in ferrous metal.
