magnetic reed switch

Automatic-type switch with contacts opened or closed by magnetic fields.

magnetic switch

A magnetic relay-type switch designed to handle higher current flow than smaller ISO relays.

magnetism

A fundamental force that can be used push or pull electrons.

main pressure regulator valve (MPRV)

A spool valve that produces main or control pressure.

main shaft

The shaft that is driven by the countershaft and provides output for the transmission. Also called output shaft.

mainshaft

 The shaft that is driven by the countershaft and provides output for the transmission. Also called output shaft.

manifold gauge set

A set of calibrated gauges for measuring high and low pressure A/C gases that can show pressure and vacuum readings for use with A/C systems.

manual selector valve

The spool valve that is moved by the operator’s shift linkage to select a gear.

manual slack adjusters

A manually adjusted lever between the brake chamber and the S-cam; to maintain brake shoe to drum clearance.

manual-ranging multimeter

A multimeter that must be set to the correct range first based on anticipated values measured.
