key-off electrical loads

Unwanted drain on the vehicle battery when the vehicle is off; also called parasitic draw.

kinetic energy

The energy of a body in motion.

kinetic friction

The friction between two surfaces that are sliding against each other.

King pin

The main pivot in the steering mechanism of a vehicle.

King pin inclination angle (KPI)

The angle formed between true vertical and the angle of the king pin. Also called steering axis inclination angle.

Kirchhoff’s law

A law that states that the sum of the voltage drops in a series circuit equals source voltage.
